PROJECTS:
The first song I learned to play by ear was “Suicide is Painless”
I was probably six or seven and we had an old Kimball piano in our living room. My parents had one of those great big televisions that was built into a big honkin’ wooden cabinet. M*A*S*H started broadcasting, and I started finding the notes of the melody.
That’s where it began.
I started playing in bands in college way back in 1995. Never more than one at a time, but nearly every group was pretty active. I became a bandleader, my own songs and all, in 1997.
I didn’t play live music between probably 2000 and 2005, but I was still writing and releasing things. In 2004 I started a project called Shortwave Dahlia, and I’ve been on nonstop since then.
Well, until March of this year, when everything stopped. I still haven’t really taken a break, though.
